Moline met today to vote on $850,000 in surface improvements.

The Moline Committee of the Whole met today, March 1, at Moline City Hall to vote on approving approximately $850,000 in surface improvements.

The projects include $414,329.41 for resurfacing and pavement replacement on 34th Avenue and $306,375 for this year's sidewalk replacement program.

Centennial Contractors of the Quad Cities Inc. will be the general contractor for both projects.

The sidewalk improvement program includes $155,500 for brick pavers for the road next to Deere Pavilion and Centre Station that will be paid for by Deere and MetroLINK via a reimbursement to the city.

The board also voted on a $129,255 seal coating program with Tri City Blacktop.

Other items on the agenda included new language in the city's driving ordinance to allow the city to designate certain intersections as "right turn only" and an update to the city's abandoned vehicle policy that would put a 48-hour limit on abandoned vehicles, regardless of weather conditions.

The meeting began at 6:30 p.m. Moline City Hall is located at 619 16th St.
