Rock Island recently announced its plan for the Mississippi River flooding concerns.

The City of Rock Island recently posted its plans for dealing with the flooding of the Mississippi River, as the river continues to rise.

City officials said water pump discharge hoses are installed along the bike path. In the event of a flood, these pumps would be turned on and gate-wells would be closed.

The rest of the city's plan is based on protocol prescribed by the National Incident Management System.

The city's response to flood events is managed by Rock Island's Incident Command Team, which meets weekly.
