The Rock Island Park & Recreation Board met Oct. 18 to preserve artwork.

Here are the meeting's agenda, as provided by the board:

The Rock Island Parks and Recreation Board consists of five members, each of whom are appointed by the mayor with the approval of the city council to serve without pay. The board is responsible for offering and keeping up with the variety of parks, playgrounds and recreation centers that line the city. Any money appropriated by the city council for such purposes is allowed to be distributed and used at the board's direction.

Members Present: Moses Robinson, David Conroy

Members Absent: Fred Dasso

Staff Present: John Gripp, Executive Director; Kimberly Miller, Parks Administrative Office Manager; Todd Winter, Assistant Director

Audience: Todd Linscott, Friends of Hauberg; Jason Koontz, Friends of Hauberg; Samantha Crisp, Augustana; Lynn Hunt, QCCVB

The Regular Meeting of the Rock Island Park Board was called to order at 5:30 p.m.

Mr. Conroy motioned to move to Item 12B, PDGA Disc Golf Tournament at Longview Park. Mr. Robinson seconded. All voted yes.

12B – PDGA Disc Golf Tournament at Longview Park

Discussion on the needs of the updates to Longview Park to bring this tournament to the Quad Cities. The QCCVB has a vested in interest as it will have a positive economic impact. This will be looked at and an answer provided by mid-winter as to the feasibility of repairs and updates.

NOT ON AGENDA- Friends of Hauberg and Augustana

Samantha came to speak about preserving the artwork at Hauberg. It is currently in a temperature controlled room for safe keeping at Augustana. John will work with the Friends of Hauberg on a layout plan to keep the artwork and drawings safe.

Mr. Conroy moved to approve the minutes as provided. Mr. Robinsons seconded. All voted yes.

The Board acknowledged all of the thank you notes received for the month.

Finances:

MONTHLY REPORT FROM FINANCE DEPARTMENT

The Monthly Report from the Finance Department was reviewed and accepted.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER IN THE AMOUNT OF $180,823.92

Mr. Conroy made a motion to approve the bills for July in the amount of $180,823.92. The motion was seconded by Mr. Robinson. All voted yes.

Director’s Reports:

DIRECTOR’S REPORT

The Board reviewed and accepted the Director’s Report.

Rock Island Fitness and Activity Center:

MONTHLY STATEMENT

The Board reviewed the Managers Monthly Statement and accepted it.

Golf:

The Board reviewed and accepted the Play and Financial Report.

Recreational Field Reports:

The Board reviewed and accepted the Recreational Field Reports from all individual areas.

Park Field Reports:

The Board reviewed and accepted the Park Field Reports from all individual areas.

New Business:

Discussion on Realtor Park, the pending Disc Golf Championship in 2017 at Longview Park, and the Douglas Park Shed painting were brought up. Nothing was voted on at this time.

Old Business:

13B – Hauberg Tuck Pointing

It is recommended to go with the RL Contractors bid for the Hauberg tuck pointing. Mr. Conroy motioned, Mr. Robinson seconded. Motion passed.

Adjourn:

The motion was made by Mr. Conroy to adjourn the Regular Meeting at 5:49 p.m. The motion was seconded by Mr. Robinson and all voted yes.
