MVP of Augustana's women's cross-country team named

Amanda Nelson was named the Most Valuable Performer of this year's Augustana women's cross-country team, according to the school's athletics website.

Nelson was the top Vikings finisher in five of seven races this season, including her 11th-place showing at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship and her fifth-place finish at Mount Mercy's Mustang Gallop.

Other team award winners included Hannah Penn, Michelle DeArmond and Mackenzie Renihan for Most Improved; Jessica Lechtenberg, Lauren Rosenthal, Tayloran Miller, Abby Casey and Nora Bosslet for the Spirit Award; Sofia Wajner and Jill Humecke for tying for Freshman of the Year; and Arianne Shipp and Claire Koszewski for the Coaches' Award.

This year's letterwinners were: Nelson, Renihan, Penn, Lechtenberg, Rosenthal, Casey, Bosslet, Wajner, Humecke, Marielena Castillo, Kylie Cline, Alayna Connolly, Michelle DeArmond, Katrina Friedrich, Carol Garcia, Brianna Jepson, Erin LaRusso, Laura McNair, Sophia Ries, Gena Rodriguez, Margaret Utgaard, Shannon Walsh, Brenna Whisler and Cassidy Wingerd.
