Coal Valley ranked 536th in state in lottery ticket sales

The village of Coal Valley had the 536th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of January 2016 -- up 161 spots from its December ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Coal Valley was $23.12 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Rock Island Today, Coal Valley generated $86,647.50 in net sales from its three lottery retailers in January 2016, compared to $59,113 in January 2015.


The village of Coal Valley is in Rock Island County, and has a population of 3,748, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Silvis and Moline.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in January 2016 was $25,633.42.

Coal Valley's top lottery retailer is Git-N-Go #8 located at 203 W 1st Ave, Coal Valley, IL 61240.

Git-N-Go #8 generated 49 percent of Coal Valley's January 2016 lottery ticket sales and 2 percent of Rock Island County's sales that month, which was $2,665,876.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Rock Island County in 2015 were Hillsdale, Rapids City, Milan, Cordova and Silvis.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
