Cordova ranked 75th in state in lottery ticket sales

The village of Cordova had the 75th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of May 2016 -- down 19 spots from its April ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Cordova was $39.99 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Rock Island Today, Cordova generated $26,395 in net sales from its two lottery retailers in May 2016, compared to $23,974.50 in May 2015.


The village of Cordova is in Rock Island County, and has a population of 660, according to 2010 census data.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in May 2016 was $18,647.78.

Cordova's top lottery retailer is Hill & Dell #3 located at 306 IL-84, Cordova, IL 61242.

Hill & Dell #3 generated 52 percent of Cordova's May 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of Rock Island County's sales that month, which was $1,939,370.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Rock Island County in 2015 were Hillsdale, Rapids City, Milan, Cordova and Silvis.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
