Mallory Shea and Taylor Main are freshmen at ROWVA High School in Oneida, but on May 23 they got to jump up to the big time as they served as honorary pages in the Illinois House of Representatives in Springfield.

“Mallory and Taylor are exceptional young women I am honored to host as an honorary page in the Illinois House,” their host, Rep. Dan Swanson (R-Alpha), said in a press release. “They were witnesses to an excellent floor debate ... in the Illinois House and were able to see the legislative process in action. Both show exceptional community leadership skills and I hope this experience will only embolden their initiative to continue to become leaders within their own community.”

According to Swanson’s release, both students are active in their school’s extracurricular activities. Shea plays softball and volleyball and is a member of ROWVA’s FFA, Mission Team and 4-H organizations. She also writes the District 208 newsletter. Main, an honor roll student, is on the YMCA Swim Team and cheers on ROWVA’s volleyball, track and basketball teams. She is also a member of 4-H and FFA.
