Morrison-based attorney Michelle Buckwalter-Schurman was recently nominated first vice president of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW).

The NFRW will vote on her selection during a convention in Philadelphia in September.

Buckwalter-Schurman is a lawyer at the law firm of Nelson, Kilgus, Richey & Buckwalter-Schurman. She received her preparatory education at Illinois State University and her legal education at Northern Illinois University's College of Law. She currently resides in Whiteside County, a press release said.

The NFRW also nominated six others for officer positions, naming Jody Rushton its president; Eileen Sobjack, Julie Harris and Ann Schockett its second, third and fourth vice presidents, respectively; Frances Taylor its secretary; and Vanessa LaFranco its treasurer, the release said.

Editor's note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated Michelle Buckwalter-Schurman and others were chosen for officer positions with the National Federation of Republican Women. Members of the NFRW will vote on the nominations in September.
