Local GOP wants parade lovers not to be left in the dark

Lighted silvis parade(1000)

The Rock Island County Republicans want Quad City residents to see the light.

The group took to Facebook recently to invite interested area residents to join it on Aug. 26 at the 2017 Lighted Silvis Parade, the only parade in the Quad Cities Area to take place after dark and to be lit.

The theme for this year’s parade is "America at Play." It will begin at dark -- approximately 8 p.m. -- at the intersection of First Avenue and 17th Street, then run west along First to Fifth Street.

Those wishing to attend should meet at the line-up point at Silvis FS Fuel, located just east of Anchor Lumber. Following the conclusion of the parade, participants will need to continue driving along First Avenue.
