City of Silvis Finance Committee met November 7.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Members Present: Chair Rick Lohse, Bob Rockwell, Kathy Hall

Also present: Tony Trulson, Larry York, Ian Pavellonis, Caryn Unsicker, Todd Malmstrom, Jim Grafton, Jim Nelson, Mayor Matt Carter and Jim Taylor.

Alderman Rick Lohse called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm noting he had a quorum.

Alderman Lohse then asked Jim Taylor from Carpentier, Mitchell and Goddard Inc.

Mr. Jim Taylor went over graphs and charts explaining to Council the position the City of Silvis is in, Mr. Taylor then went on to explain that on pages 6 & 7 of the Audit compares positions on April 30 2017 to April 30 2016.

Mr. Taylor noted that the City's total net position increased by $502,277 during the fiscal year ending 30 April 2017. The governmental-type activities’ net position increased by $357,170, the total business type activities net position increases by $145,107.

In the General Fund we have a restricted Fund balance of $53,826. We have a committed unexpected expense balance of $1,007,878 and a major equipment fund $119,333and the unassigned balance of $1,603,305.

Mr. Taylor asked if there were any questions.

Hearing none Alderman Rick Lohse recommended to the Committee move this item to the 21 November 2017 Regular Meeting of the Silvis City Council for approval. The meeting adjourned at 6:27 pm
