Iowa Senior Games coming to Quad Cities

Track

Seniors from throughout the Midwest are invited to register for the Winter Iowa Senior Games, an annual competition that will be held from Feb. 23 to 25 in the Quad Cities this year, according to a release from the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce.

Men and women 50 years old and older can participate, and the games are open to non-Iowa residents. The athletes will compete in billiards, bowling, pickleball, swimming, table tennis, indoor tennis and indoor track and field events. Each sport will be divided into 10 age groups, and the top three finishers in each age group will win bronze, silver and gold medals.

Pickleball and track and field events will be held at the PepsiCo Recreation Center at Augustana College in Rock Island, with remaining events being held in Bettendorf and Davenport, Iowa, according to the Iowa Senior Games website.

“The Winter Iowa Senior Games allows us to bring the events to the participants,” Iowa Sports Foundation CEO and Executive Director Chuck Long said, according to the release. “We’re excited to be back in the Quad Cities this February and we look forward to putting on another great event.”

Admission to the games is free. Registration for participants is $25 for those who sign up before Jan. 22 and $30 thereafter, with a deadline of Feb. 12. Registration is also now open for volunteers.

The games are hosted by Iowa Senior Games and presented by Health Alliance Medicare.
