Village of Woodhull Village Board met March 12.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

President Dave Holmes called the meeting to order on March 12, 2018 @ 7:00 pm.

Followed by roll call: Jeff Bell, Jason Carlson, Luke Gierach, Ron Hoburg, and Derek VerHeecke.

Also present: Michelle Keener – Treasurer, Jacki Beck – Village Clerk, Wayne Mileham – Public Works Superintendent, Chad Hillier – Police Chief. Dustin Dobbels – Public Works Assistant was absent from the meeting. (Attending classes for his Job for the Village)

Public Comments:

Mayor Holmes read a letter of resignation from Board Member Connie Vail.

Jeff Bell made a motion to have Village Resident Jody York be seated as the new Village of Woodhull Board Member for 14 months of the remaining term of Connie Vail. Luke Gierach seconded the motion. Motion carried 5-0.

Brian Brown, Village of Woodhull Resident, was present at the meeting to discuss an issue with the garbage from another residence and that it is blowing in his yard and around the neighborhood. Mr. Brown asked if there is an Ordinance that can be enforced to help with this issue. Mayor Holmes said the Village will discuss the matter with the owner of the Apartment complex.

Approval Of Minutes:

Jason Carlson made a motion to approve the February 12, 2018 Regular Board Meeting Minutes as amended. Derek VerHeecke seconded the motion. Motion carried 5-0.

Ron Hoburg made a motion to approve the February 12, 2018 Closed Session Board Meeting Minutes as presented. Derek VerHeecke seconded the motion. Motion carried 5-0.

Jeff Bell made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report as presented. Derek VerHeecke seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

Luke Gierach made a motion to transfer $11,866.48 into the Motor Fuel account. Jason Carlson seconded the motion. Gierach – Y, Carlson – Y, Bell – Y, Hoburg – Y, VerHeecke – Y, York – Y. Motion carried 6-0.

Ron Hoburg made a motion to donate $250.00 to the Alwood Post Prom. Derek VerHeecke seconded the motion. Hoburg – Y, VerHeecke – Y, Bell – Y, Carlson – Y, Gierach – Y, York – Y. Motion carried 6-0.

Luke Gierach made a motion to pay the bills from the various accounts as presented. Jason Carlson seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

Police/Civil Defense/Permits:

Police Chief Chad Hillier presented the February Police Department Activity Report as follows: Woodhull Police Department responded to 11 calls for service, conducted 23 traffic stops, 17 warnings, 4 citations being issued, used 88.7 gallons of Gasoline at a cost of $221.83.

Jason Carlson made a motion to approve the February Police Report as presented. Ron Hoburg seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

Public Works Report:

Wayne Mileham presented the February Public Works Report as follows: Wayne reported on the work done for the month of February for both the Streets Department and the Water Department. Water pumped in February 2,070,432 gal. Sewer pumped in January 10,913,280 gal.

Jason Carlson made a motion to approve the February Public Works Report as presented. Luke Gierach seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

New Business:

Jeff Bell made a motion to approve the Street work to be done on the east side of the park and in front of the Alwood High School and to do the ADA work on the sidewalks in six different locations. Luke Gierach seconded the motion. Bell – Y, Gierach – Y, Carlson – Y, Hoburg – Y, VerHeecke – Y, York – Y. Motion carried 6-0.

Derek VerHeecke made a motion to allow Wayne Mileham and Dustin Dobbels to purchase a pick-up truck with a utility box and a plow not to exceed $55,000.00 and there will be a trade-in. Jason Carlson seconded the motion. VerHeecke – Y, Carlson – Y, Bell – Y, Gierach – Y, Hoburg – Y, York – Y. Motion carried 6-0.

Ron Hoburg made a motion to allow the purchase of a lawn mower for the Village. There is $7,079.30 in an account for the purchase of a mower. The old mower has been sold. Derek VerHeecke seconded the motion. Hoburg – Y, VerHeecke – Y, Bell – Y, Carlson – Y, Gierach – Y, York – Y. Motion carried 6-0.

Jeff Bell made a motion to change the due date of the Village Water Bills to the 20th of the month. Luke Gierach seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

Jason Carlson made a motion to have the Village of Woodhull Clean-up Day to be Friday May 11th. The Garage Sale Day will be on the 12th of May to coincide with the Alpha Car Show and Thrifty on 150. Luke Gierach seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

Ron Hoburg made a motion to go into Closed Session at 9:07 p.m. Luke Gierach seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

Ron Hoburg made a motion to return to Open Session at 10:09 p.m. Jason Carlson seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

Ron Hoburg made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:10 p.m. Jeff Bell seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.
