City of Keithsburg Council met March 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Henshaw opened the Meeting at 6:30 PM

Pledge of Allegiance

Alderman Physically Present: Bill Pinger, Jan Occhi, Donnie Cox, Tom Litwiler, Ronnie Brock, and Don Truitt

Others present: Cindy Diehl, Treasurer; Kelly Parker, Clerk; and Troy Brock, Police.

Public Comments:

1. Minutes from last month’s meeting: Ronnie made a motion to approve minutes, Jan seconded. Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

2. Cash Receipts: Donnie made a motion to approve, Bill seconded. Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

3. Cash Disbursements: Jan made a motion to approve, Donnie seconded. Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

4. Water and Sewer

• Total gallons pumped 1,032,000 with an average of 35,500

• Billy Pinger talked about the sewer issue on Jackson Street. A licensed plumber needs to do the work. He and Dave Maynard need to be involved in fixing issue. Dave has contacted Zenke Plumbing and they are able to do the dewatering and fix the sewer issue. Donnie made a motion to hire Zenke to fix sewer issue, giving them a 2-week time period to complete work, Bill seconded. Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

5. Streets and Sidewalks:

• Donnie made a motion to make Larry Robertson a permanent employee, Jan seconded. Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

6. Fire Department

• First responder calls: 0, Fire calls: 4

• Training: Truck Training and Tour of Cargill Elevator

• Jeremy would like to bring the old hose cart to the museum. There is not room to store it in the Fire Station. It was suggested to speak with Sharon Reason. Other options would be to loan item to Aledo Museum or contact New Boston to see if it is something they would want to use.

• Daryan Malcom has resigned from the department. Members will now go to Seaton for EMS training.

7. Police

• Donnie made a motion to purchase a Surface Pro and mounts for the Police car, Jan seconded. Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

• Sample decals for the squad car were reviewed. Jan made a motion to have the decal with the star put on car, Bill seconded. Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

• Nila discussed taxes for Marijuana. Allen will speak with lawyer to see if the City needs to have anything in place.

11. Other Business

• Donnie made a motion to have Kevin Shaw give an estimate on cutting down the tree on the FEMA lot, Jan seconded. Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.

• No closed session was necessary.

12. Donnie made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Bill seconded. Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.
