City of Moline Centre Main Street Commission met Feb. 19.

AGENDA ITEM #1 – CALL TO ORDER

The Moline Centre Main Street Commission meeting was called to order by Matt Sivertsen at 4:00 p.m.

AGENDA ITEM #2 – PUBLIC COMMENT

There was no public comment at this time.

AGENDA ITEM #3 – Approval of Minutes

A motion to accept the minutes from January 15, 20202, was made by Pete McDermott. Lora Adams seconded the motion. Motion was approved unanimously.

AGENDA ITEM #4 – John Deere Pavilion Tree Bids

Manis presented the tree bids for the John Deere Pavilion. Bids were from Meyer Landscape, Heritage Landscape Design and Corn Crib Nursery. The Commission discussed the bids.

A motion to accept the bid from Corn Crib Nursery not to exceed $7,800 for the John Deere Pavilion Trees was made by Ajay Singh. Pete McDermott seconded the motion. Motion was approved unanimously.

AGENDA ITEM #5 – 2020 Main Street Commission Calendar

Manis presented the 2020 Main Street Commission Calendar and noted some dates that may have conflict. The Commission adjusted some dates and discussed possibly meeting with the SSA Committees quarterly at some point in the future.

AGENDA ITEM #6 – Illinois Main Street Update

Manis reported that Governor Pritzker brought back the Illinois Main Street Program which had ended under Governor Rauner. The first conference will be March 18th-20th in Springfield. Manis has another obligation so he opened it up to the Moline Centre Main Street Commission if there was interest from the members to go. City Planner and Interim Community & Economic Development Director, Jeff Anderson, does have it on his calendar if no one can go. The Commission discussed the conference.

AGENDA ITEM #7 – Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce Contract

Manis stated the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce contract is set to expire March 20th. The Chamber obtained sponsorships and offered 100 hours of marketing. Paul Rumler, President and CEO of the Quad Cities Chamber, met with JD Schulte, Interim City Administrator and Public Works Director see how to proceed moving forward. Manis is meeting with them and Kristin Glass of the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce Friday to go over the final details. The Commission discussed the contract.

AGENDA ITEM #8 – Follow-up from Previous Commission Meeting Agenda Items

AGENDA ITEM #9 – Director’s Report

Manis reported that SSA #5 bought a concrete ping pong table for the Bass Street Landing Plaza. There will also be a chess table in the future. The stage and umbrellas at Bass Street Landing Plaza will be painted. All of the Thursday Night Summer Concert Series are booked. The Cabin Fever Pub Crawl has 14 businesses booked where proceeds will go to Junior Achievement. Living Lands and Waters and Quad City Arts are working together to do storm drain art. The Moline Community Development Corporation (CDC) is working with Living Lands and Waters and Manis to sell sponsorships for tree memorials at the John Deere Commons.

Pete McDermott made a motion to adjourn. Ajay Signh seconded the motion. Motion was approved unanimously. Meeting was adjourned at 5:04 p.m.
