City of Keithsburg City Council met June 27.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor opened the Meeting at 6:30pm

Pledge of the Allegiance

Present: Donnie Cox, Melonie McLaughlin, Chad Weeks, Shaun Tippie, Don Truitt, Ronnie Brock

Chris Defrieze mentioned that the City of Keithsburg Need to do a Special Event Permit for the Independence Day Celebration. Close of Streets allowing people to walk up town to the area businesses.

County and the state need to be notified of this special permit and it will be posted at the Landing.

No glass bottles will be allowed. Anyone 21 years or older can byob or get a drink from the area businesses but you must stay within the boundaries that are in place. Drinking and Driving will not be tolerated. The area is from 4th and Jackson Street to the river and going south to the campground along with 6th and Main Street going to the river will be the areas that are permitted for the celebration. This event will be from 4pm-11pm

Parking will be available along Jackson Street. There is no thru traffic besides for golfcarts and SxS’s in the area, on foot traffic is preferred.

People coming into town from 76th Street will have to detour onto Jackson Street to get to Caseys or 10th Street.

Amending 3-1-15 Additional Prohibited Acts: Section B. amending the ordinance and adding The Landing Event area to the areas of town that Alcohol is allowed during events only, bring their own beverage. Melonie made a motion to amend the ordinance adding the Landing stage event area. Donnie seconded; Motion carried all “Yes” votes.

Melonie also made a motion to do the Special Event Permit for Independence Day, Donnie seconded; Motion carried all “Yes” votes.

Blucker, Kneer & Assoc. Annual Audit approval $8,200.00 Donnie made a motion to approve, Melonie seconded; Motion carried all “Yes” votes.

A petition to put Keithsburg Fire Protection District on the ballot has been submitted. Public Hearing will be on July 26th 1pm-3pm at Mercer County Courthouse.

The first 2 rows of the Campground electrical has been pulled. The storm drain system takes good care of water that does seep in on the north side of town.

Skyler mentioned that he would like to have the back side of the pope levee ground down to inspect the levee better. Shuan mentioned that we can rent the grinder when the time comes.

Public Comment about flooding, Henderson County Emergency Management Coordinator Mention that we should take before and After Photo of everything in town, document everything, Declaration, receive money back.

Jeremy Malcom, mention he received 2 pallets full of fireworks for Keithsburg Fireworks on July 5th. If the river gets to 18ft the Celebration will be postponed.

Adjourn the Meeting: Donnie made a motion, Chad seconded; Motion carried with all “Yes” votes.
