FOIA Request to City of Galva Regarding New and Active Residential and Commercial Building Permits on October 30, 2024.

Rock Island Today, a media organization committed to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Galva. The request, dated October 30, 2024, seeks information about both new and active residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until the present day.

The specific details requested for each permit include the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester’s name, address where the work is being performed, and contractor’s name. This information is sought for all new permits issued during this period as well as all currently active permits.

As members of Rock Island Today, we believe access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We are hopeful that our request will be granted without fees due to our role as media professionals disseminating important information to the public.
