FOIA Request to City of Galva Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local government affairs, we at Rock Island Today have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the City of Galva. The request specifically seeks records of all currently unpaid parking violations within the city.

The information requested includes the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date of each violation, and the total amount due. We believe that this data is essential for providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage to our readers.

As media professionals engaged in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are reliant on access to public records such as these. It is through this access that we can fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to our audience.

We have also requested a fee waiver for this information given our role as a media organization disseminating important information to the public. We await a response from the City of Galva administration regarding this request.
