FOIA Request to City of Geneseo Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Rock Island Today have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Geneseo. The request, sent on October 28, 2024, seeks detailed information about all unpaid parking violations in the city.

The requested records include a list of all parking violations currently unpaid. Specifically, we asked for the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date when each violation occurred, and the total amount due.

Access to public records is essential for us at Rock Island Today to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as per standard media professional guidelines.

We will continue our efforts in ensuring transparency and accountability in local government affairs. We await a response from the City of Geneseo regarding this FOIA request.
