FOIA Request to City Of Moline Finance Department Regarding Sales Tax Records on October 31, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Rock Island Today have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the City Of Moline Finance Department.

Our request pertains specifically to sales tax records from January 1, 2023, through October 31, 2024. We are seeking an electronic format list of businesses that paid sales tax to the city during this period. The requested details include each business’s name, type, and the amount of sales tax they paid.

Additionally, we have asked for information about the total amount of sales tax that the city collected within this same timeframe. This data is essential for us as we strive to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to our readers.

Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news related to local government affairs.
