FOIA Request to City of New Boston Regarding Newly Registered Businesses on May 7, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, Rock Island Today has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of New Boston. We are seeking access to records that detail the businesses registered with the city over the past week. The requested information includes several key fields: Business Name, Business Number, Business Type, Business Address, Issued Date, Status, and Registered Agent Name.

Our role as media professionals involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to these public records is crucial for us to fulfill our responsibilities in holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency. Given our position in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals.

This request is also supported by our affiliation with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting news media companies and public advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. This effort aims to pull back the curtain on government actions and help inform the American electorate.

We await a response from the City of New Boston and remain committed to keeping our readers informed about developments in local governance.
