FOIA Request to Henry County Clerk Regarding 2025 Consolidated Elections Candidates on January 14, 2025.

Rock Island Today, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage of local governmental affairs, has submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) for records pertaining to the upcoming 2025 Consolidated Elections.

The request specifically seeks an electronic list of candidates running in the election. The requested details include each candidate’s name, the date they filed their candidacy, and the office they are seeking.

As a news organization, Rock Island Today emphasizes its role in gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to such public records is crucial for fulfilling our professional responsibilities which encompass holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the general public.

Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We await a response from the Henry County Clerk’s office regarding this request.
