State Representative Dan Swanson addressed the Illinois House of Representatives, paying tribute to America’s fallen heroes as part of Memorial Day 2025 commemorations. In his speech, Swanson highlighted the contributions of General John A. Logan from Illinois, who was instrumental in establishing the holiday. Logan was a commander of the Grand Army of the Republic and served in both the Illinois General Assembly and the U.S. Congress.

Swanson emphasized the sacrifices made by Gold Star families and discussed the significance of Memorial Day. He also commented on an incident involving players from the Chicago Sky WNBA team, stating that they “owed an apology to every Gold Star family for a disrespectful act over the Memorial Day weekend.”
