State Senator Neil Anderson has expressed strong opposition following the passage of Illinois’ new budget by state Democrats. The budget, amounting to over $55 billion, is reported to be the largest in the state’s history.

In his statement, Senator Anderson criticized the spending plan, highlighting its significant increase compared to previous budgets. “While Illinois families are cutting back to survive, Democrats just pushed through a $55 billion spending plan, the largest in state history,” he said. He further noted that this comes with nearly a billion dollars in new tax hikes and represents a nearly 40% increase in state spending since Governor Pritzker assumed office.

Senator Anderson voiced concerns about the implications for taxpayers and businesses in Illinois. “Our state is already one of the most overtaxed in the nation,” he stated. He argued that instead of providing relief to working families and small businesses, Democrats opted for what he termed as greed over responsibility.

He warned about potential negative outcomes such as business closures and families leaving the state. “Businesses are closing. Families are fleeing,” Anderson remarked. He concluded his statement by criticizing what he perceives as exploitation by Springfield insiders at the expense of ordinary citizens: “This isn’t leadership, it’s exploitation. It’s economic warfare against the very people they claim to serve.”
