Illinois state Rep. Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) recently shared her experiences at the Illinois State Fair.

McCombie made her comments and shared photos in a recent Facebook post.

“Quick two days in Springfield visiting the Illinois State Fair, seeing colleagues, meeting new republican county chairs and candidates, fundraising and getting very excited for the general election on November 8th!” she said in the post. “We have a real opportunity to bring balance to Illinois with your involvement and support at the polls! Let’s GO!! PS… yes I also had to stop at Boone’s for Fish Tacos and Saputos for all things garlic!”

McCombie also spent some time at the Whiteside County Fair on Aug. 18.

“Whiteside County Fair & Farm Bureau Dairy Bar shift,” she said on Facebook. “Great evening to take the family for food, fun and DOLLY! We heard her during sound check and she will not disappoint! #districttravels #fairfun”

In recent weeks, McCombie called on U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-IL Dist. 17) to vote against the Inflation Reduction Act.

“Rep. Cheri Bustos please hear the IL Farm Bureau and vote NO on this bill!” McCombie said in a Facebook post, quoted by Rock Island Today. “I know your views have changed since you were originally elected, but you were supported by the Farm Bureau and I hope that is because you will side with the district that elected you!”

The representative has also spoken about the misuse of SNAP benefits.

“Many years ago I was questioned by a new clerk using my mother’s ‘SNAP’ card to buy her Ensure… she was only able to eat through a feeding tube at that point… luckily I shopped local and the owner knew me and quickly remedied the situation but today there is little to question and grocery clerks around the district do talk to me about fraud!” McCombie said on Facebook, quoted by Today. “They feel guilty doing so because they want people to be helped but know this program has gotten too big to avoid the misuse! Misuse that will hurt those that need it the most!”
