State Representative Dan Swanson (R-Alpha) welcomed Jordyn Sedlock and Austin Ullrich to the Illinois House of Representatives as Pages for the Day on Mar. 20.
The visit gave both students an opportunity to observe the legislative process and engage with lawmakers, highlighting efforts to involve young people in state government.
“I always enjoy welcoming local students to the House chamber and introducing them to my colleagues,” Swanson said. “Today we had not one, but two, great students from local colleges who have served their communities and helped their neighbors.”
Jordyn Sedlock is a junior at Western Illinois University majoring in music education. She is involved in Delta Zeta sorority, the Western Illinois University Music Education Association, and participates in charitable activities such as Rockython, a dance marathon supporting her local children’s hospital. Sedlock recently earned a spot on the WIU Dean’s List.
Austin Ullrich is a sophomore at Sandburg College where he serves as student ambassador and president of Student Government. He is also active in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and Men of Distinction, focusing on community involvement and volunteerism. Ullrich has participated in United Way of Knox County’s Day of Action, worked with the campus food pantry, mentored elementary school students, received the 2024-2025 David M. Kellogg Award of Excellence from the Criminal Justice Department, and plans to study political science at Monmouth College before attending law school.
Swanson was elected to represent Illinois’ 71st House District in 2023 after replacing former state representative Donald L. Moffitt according to Ballotpedia.
