Illinois Restoration PAC has endorsed Brandi McGuire of East Moline in her run for the Republican nomination for state representative in the Quad Cities’ 72nd District.

McGuire is one of four candidates running to fill a seat held by Rep. Patrick Vershoore (D-Milan), a longtime ally of powerful Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago).

“Brandi is a strong conservative that will not be bullied in Spring- field by the Democratic Madigan machine,” IL Restoration PAC said in an announcement.

“Brandi McGuire’s faith informs her commitment to be a servant to others. She is teaching her children to live lives of service as well.

“ILPAC only backs strong bold conservatives and we are proud to endorse Brandi McGuire to be the new State Representative in the 72nd House District.”

Restoration PAC is non partisan and supports candidates committed to “restoring individual freedom, reducing the size of government, and reducing the government debt.”

State and local debt will prove a major issue in the 72nd District race. Led by Madigan, Illinois Democrats like Vershoore have traditionally supported more borrowing rather than prioritizing spending. That’s including a proposed $4 billion this year in additional debt, opposed by Republicans and Gov. Bruce Rauner.

The state of Illinois already owes $194 billion. The local government of Rock Island itself has racked up $243 million, Moline’s $201 million and East Moline’s $91 million.
