A team of Western Illinois University agriculture business majors recently won multiple livestock assessment awards at this year's Iowa Beef Expo.

The school's Livestock Judging Team earned High Team Overall, High Team in Reasons and High Team in Placings honors.

"It was certainly an exciting trip for the team, which is now in preparation for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in March," Mallory Espenscheid, a junior on the team, said. "Our success is a direct result of livestock-savvy students who are committed to humility and diligence. We are honored to be a part of such an amazing, recognized program."

Several students also took home individual merits. Junior Tyler Dawson and senior Hayden Wilder placed in all three individual categories, while junior Clayton Boyert placed in High Individual Overall and High Individual in Reasons.
