Western Illinois University recently helped coordinate a business contracting forum involving tri-state executives.

Western Illinois University's (WIU) Illinois Procurement Technical Assistance Center is helping organize a forum on March 23 in Keokuk that will share local business improvement and contracting opportunities with business owners from Illinois, Iowa and Missouri.

The Tri-State Procurement and Economic Development Summit will feature panel discussions with officials from local chambers of commerce, university extension offices, economic development groups and small business development centers.

"We have arranged this forum to provide one-stop access to educational sessions geared toward business improvement and government contracting programs available," PTAC Program Manager Mary Turner said. "Attendees will have the opportunity to build networks with regional and federal government procuring agencies and increase their awareness of community and economic development initiatives, which may be valuable to their businesses."

Participants also have the option to register for an optional tour of Keokuk Waterworks following the forum.

The free forum will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at Keokuk High School, which is located at 2285 Middle Road. Preregistration is required online.
