City of Moline Foreign Fire Tax Board met June 13.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

1. Meeting Call to Order

Chairman Steve Regenwether called the meeting to order at 8:18 a.m.

2. Member Roll Call

Absent- Public Safety Director, Kim Hankins

Battalion Chief, Kevin Irby

3. Approval of Minutes

A. Minutes of the April 11, 2017 meeting.

Lieutenant Jim Versluis, seconded by Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Hamilton, made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 11, 2017 meeting. Motion passed unanimously.

4. Reports

A. Treasurers Report

Lieutenant Jim Versluis reported a balance of $58,539.27 as of June 13, 2017. Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Hamilton, seconded by Engineer Jim Jackson, made a motion to approve the June 13, 2017 treasurers report. Motion passed unanimously.

5. Old Business

No discussion

6. New Business

All Foreign Fire Tax requests shall be placed in the Foreign Fire Tax mailbox located by the Captains office.

7. Requests

General

A. Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Hamilton, seconded by Firefighter/Paramedic Brett Daniel, made a motion to approve an additional $5,000 to the tuition reimbursement program. Motion passed unanimously.

B. Lieutenant Jim Versluis, seconded by Firefighter/Paramedic Brett Daniel, made a motion to approve the purchase of 720 buttons for the Class A uniform in the amount of $715.00 from Uniform Den. Motion passed unanimously.

C. Firefighter/Paramedic Brett Daniel, seconded by Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Hamilton, made a motion to approve the purchase of a new flagpole from Kranz Flagpoles in the amount of $239.00 for the RIA Firefighter Memorial. Motion passed unanimously. Battalion Chief Jeff Snyder abstained from voting.

Station 1:

A. Lieutenant Jim Versluis, seconded by Firefighter/Paramedic Brett Daniel, made a motion to approve the purchase of a Scotsman Ice Machine from A&A Air Conditioning and Refrigeration in the amount of $3,750.00 for the Central Station apparatus floor. Motion passed unanimously.

B. Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Hamilton, seconded by Firefighter/Paramedic Brett Daniel, made a motion to approve the purchase of 50 grave markers from General Pattern Tooling in the amount of $1,100.00 for Memorial Day flag placement. Motion passed unanimously. Battalion Chief Jeff Snyder abstained from voting.

C. Firefighter/Paramedic Brett Daniel, seconded by Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Hamilton, made a motion to approve the purchase of two Shark vacuums. Cost for the two vacuums shall not exceed $330.00. Motion passed unanimously.

Station 3:

A. Lieutenant Jim Versluis, seconded by Firefighter/Paramedic Brett Daniel, made a motion to approve the purchase of a gas grill from Lowes, not to exceed $650.00 Motion passed unanimously.

B. Lieutenant Jim Versluis, seconded by Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Hamilton, made a motion to approve the purchase of a TV in the amount of $779.00 from Sam’s Club. Motion passed unanimously.

Station 4:

A. Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Hamilton, seconded by Engineer Jim Jackson, made a motion to approve the purchase of a patio umbrella from Menards in the amount of $129.00. Motion passed unanimously.

B. Battalion Chief Jeff Snyder, seconded by Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Hamilton, made a motion to approve the purchase an office chair from Office Depot in the amount of $209.99. Motion failed. Lieutenant Steve Regenwether will advise requestor to contact Battalion Chief Todd Allen to make arrangements for the City to cover this expense.

C. Firefighter/Paramedic Brett Daniel, seconded by Battalion Chief Jeff Snyder, made a motion to approve the purchase of a lawn sweeper in the amount of $349.99 from Farm and Fleet. Motion failed.

D. Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Hamilton, seconded by Firefighter/Paramedic Brett Daniel, made a motion to approve the purchase of 3 memory foam mattresses up to $300.00. Motion failed.

9. Adjournment

Firefighter/Paramedic Brett Daniel, seconded by Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Hamilton, made a motion to adjourn at 9:11 a.m. Motion passed unanimously.
