City of Silvis Economic Development Group met July 25.

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

Economic Development Chairwoman Kathy Hall called the meeting to order at 5:45pm and noted a quorum was present for one agenda item. The purpose of the meeting was discussion on advertising with WQAD Television.

Alderwoman Hall explained that once again WQAD channel 8 is offering television spots for Silvis businesses. The cost is about $160 per month with a one year commitment offered to the SBA. The request is to allow the City of Silvis to be one of the participants. $3,198 is the cost for two shares; there will be several series of commercials. Some discussion on the success of last year's ads and the possibility of using the John Deere Classic as the Mayor's theme. There are 12 businesses (including the City of Silvis) committed to participate. Clerk Nelson said the production would take place within the next several weeks. Committee was in agreement to move forward with the recommendation and the funds would be pulled from Economic Development or Tourism.

There were no other agenda items and the meeting was adjourned at 5:58pm.
