City of Silvis Public Service met July 26.
Here is the minutes as provided by the committee:
Chairwoman Unsicker called the meeting to order at 5:15pm and noted a quorum was present for one agenda item; Social media policy.
A copy of the policy in place at the Silvis Police Department was distributed for review. In addition a document from the City Clerk's Office was also distributed for comment. Chairwoman Unsicker read the policy prepared for the City Clerk's office. Alderman Lohse asked as to the purpose of the policy. Chairwoman Unsicker suggested that the policy should be reviewed by the City Attorney. Alderman Trulson noted that as an elected official he is subject to social media criticism. What needs to be included is using Social media personal business during normal work hours. After further discussion it was decided to pass the proposed policy to the city attorney for an opinion. No action was taken.
There were no other agenda items and the meeting was adjourned at 5:50pm.
