UNITYPOINT HEALTH BOARD OF DIRECTORS - QUAD CITIES: Organizations Donate Comfort Items to Trinity Cancer Center
UnityPoint Health Board of Directors - Quad Cities recently issued the following announcement.
A simple act of kindness can make a person’s day. It can even mean the world to someone, especially someone battling a tough diagnosis like cancer. Thanks to a donation from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society along with McLaughlin Subaru, dozens of UnityPoint Health – Trinity patients will be gifted some extra warmth and comfort during their treatment.
Representatives from both organizations recently stopped by the “We are so grateful to these organizations for supporting the Trinity Cancer Center and our patients. Comfort items have such an impact during treatment and donations like this are a great sign of love and support from the community,” says Alison Beardsley, Director of Oncology Services, UnityPoint Health – Trinity. UnityPoint Health – Trinity Cancer Center to deliver 80 cotton blankets to be handed out. Those who already received the blanket while in treatment brightened up at the gesture. Messages of hope also served as a reminder of how much the community cares.
Some of the patients were hand-delivered the comfort items in the recently opened UnityPoint Health – Trinity Medical Oncology & Hematology Clinic and infusion center.
UnityPoint Health – Trinity is excited for the newly expanded services and to now have Costas Constantinou, MD and his team providing expert care. This project builds on the quality and history of Trinity Cancer Center which offers the community comprehensive, compassionate care and support close to home. Additionally, the department will be growing with Bhanu Vakkalanka, MD providing care for UnityPoint Health patients starting in September.
The UnityPoint Health – Trinity Medical Oncology & Hematology Clinic integrates care between the medical oncology department and radiation oncology clinic, creating a stronger continuum of care between providers and care teams, and easier access for patients. Along with a renovated and more comfortable infusion center, these additions to the Cancer Center ensure each person receives a more personal experience through individualized treatment plans, state-of-the-art technologies and compassionate support – all under one roof. Our goal is to treat the whole person and provide support every step of the way.
