City of Eureka City Council met Feb. 22.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
The Eureka City Council convened in special session at Eureka City Hall at 7:30 p.m. Mayor Eric Lind attended via phone and called the meeting to order and led The Pledge of Allegiance and then directed the City Services Coordinator to call the roll. Present were Aldermen Germann, Chambliss, Logan, Peterson, Teegarden, Williams and Wilson. Alderman Klaus was absent. Also in attendance were Lynn Hinnen, Treasurer; Chief Alex Collinge,, Erik Hasselbacher; and Melissa Brown, City Services Coordinator.
Moved by Wilson, second by Peterson, to approve the minutes of the February 7, 2022 regular meeting of the City Council and the minutes of the Special Council meeting on February 10, 2022. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Germann, Chambliss, Logan, Peterson, Teegarden, Williams and Wilson all voting aye.
Moved by Teegarden, second by Peterson, to approve the Treasurer’s Report for the month of January 2022. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Germann, Chambliss, Logan, Peterson, Teegarden, Williams and Wilson all voting aye. Treasurer Hinnen explained General Fund balance dropped by 11% after paying pension obligations to bring funding up.
The Mayor asked for public comments on any action to be taken on Agenda items. There were none.
Moved by Chambliss, second by Wilson, to approve and pay the bills as the City’s obligation in the amount of $63,545.66. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Germann, Chambliss, Logan, Peterson, Teegarden, Williams and Wilson all voting aye.
Consideration of Ordinance 22-01, an ordinance amending Eureka Municipal Policy Book with a change to job descriptions.
Moved by Chambliss, second by Teegarden. Passed on roll call vote with Aldermen Germann, Chambliss, Logan, Peterson, Teegarden, Williams and Wilson all voting aye.
Germann asked if descriptions matched succession plan needs. Lind responded that it does. Peterson asked about specific goals for GIS listed in job description. He questioned the language reading like a goal more than a job description. Peterson felt the language was redundant in supervisory requirements. The words “water and sewer” will be stricken from paragraph one under essential duties and responsibilities. Under Superintendent of Parks and Maintenance it was requested to strike “Maps of the town will be 100% captured, including old infrastructure by end of 2026”
