Illinois State Representative Daniel Swanson recently visited Macomb High School to meet with students from the Macomb Youth Leadership Organization (MYLO). He was joined by Rep. Norine Hammond during the visit, which took place on Local Government day.
MYLO consists of 14 sophomores who dedicate one day each month to learning about their community through tours and other activities. During the visit, Swanson and Hammond listened to the students’ perspectives and discussed topics related to local government.
Swanson expressed his appreciation for the opportunity, stating, “It is always a learning experience for me to hear what is on the mind of young people.” He also thanked those involved in organizing the event: “Thank you students and to Shelby Carlson, 4-H Youth Development Educator, for hosting this event for future leaders!”
Swanson, a Republican, began representing Illinois’ 71st House District in 2023 after being elected to succeed Donald L. Moffitt.
