United Township High School District 30 in East Moline, which serves Rock Island and Henry counties, announced several updates and events for students this February. The district, which enrolled 1,705 students in the 2019-2020 school year and covers grades nine through twelve, is represented by United Township High School. According to the Illinois State Board of Education, the district spent $19,622 per student in 2020, totaling $33,454,743. The district’s demographic makeup is 51.3 percent White, 16 percent Black, 25.5 percent Hispanic, and 2.9 percent Asian. Teacher statistics show there are 96 teachers with an average salary of $65,666; none had more than ten absences in a school year. Among upcoming activities, the Student Council will sell ice cream after school on Friday, February 20th.

David Hayford has been named the Youth Symphony Orchestra Prize winner with the Quad City Symphony Youth Ensemble and will perform as a soloist at their Winter Concert on Sunday, February 15 at Davenport Central High School Performing Arts Center. “David will perform the first movement of ‘Concerto da esperimento’ by Gioachino Rossini on Sunday, February 15 at 3:00 pm at the Davenport Central High School Performing Arts Center. UT students and teachers attend free! Companion tickets for parents or other guests are available for $5. To reserve tickets, email ” with the number of student/teacher tickets needed and the number of $5 companion tickets requested.”

The IJAG Program is selling Valentine Sucker grams from February 10th through February 13th for $1.50 each and key chains honoring Black History for $2 during lunch periods in the Commons.

A Polar Plunge event supporting Special Olympics teams is also being organized: “It’s that time of the year to make the Plunge for the Special Olympics teams and athletes. We are asking all coaches, clubs, and organizations to come out and participate. There are two ways to support. Plunge as a team or sponsor an athlete.” Teams must register by February 26th.

Sadie’s Dance will take place on February 21st with a Winter Wonderland theme; ticket sales begin Monday February 16th at $13 for singles and $25 for couples.

The Panther Pant run is scheduled for Wednesday April 22nd with a one-mile race at 5:30 p.m., followed by a three-mile race at 6:00 p.m.

Students are reminded that community service hours must be reported by February 26th to qualify for wearing a Silver cord at graduation.

Club meetings include LGBT+ club today after school in room 125E to plan Comfy Day; Galentine’s Day event on Thursday, February 12 from 3:15-5:15 pm; H.O.P.E Club meeting Wednesday at 3:15 pm in room 189V; PROM Committee meeting Wednesday morning in Counseling Office; Student Council meeting Friday morning in room 109S.

All students bringing guests to Sadie’s Dance must fill out a guest request form located in Student Services.
