United Township High School District 30 announced on March 30 several upcoming events, including state testing dates, graduation information for seniors, club activities, and athletic tryouts.

The announcement is important for students and families to prepare for key academic assessments and end-of-year milestones. It also provides details about extracurricular opportunities in the coming weeks.

According to the district, juniors will take the ACT on Wednesday, April 8 with dismissal at 12:30 p.m., while sophomores and freshmen will take the PreACT on Thursday, April 9 with dismissal at 11:35 a.m. Students are instructed to bring a fully charged Chromebook, calculator if desired, and pencil. Testing rooms will be posted on April 7. Seniors are reminded that graduation is approaching on May 30; those who ordered caps and gowns can pick them up on Thursday, April 23 in the Hall of Values. Registration for the Seal of Biliteracy test is open with information available from Mr. Z in counseling.

The district also highlighted upcoming events such as Panther Pant signups through social media platforms before Monday, April 6. The Student Council will not meet for two weeks but plans to return with updates about Teacher Appreciation Week and other activities.

For students interested in business careers, a free Gateway Summer Program at University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business is accepting applications until April 17. Sports tryouts for football and soccer cheerleading are scheduled for April 10 with optional clinics earlier that week.

United Township High School District 30 serves Rock Island and Henry counties according to Illinois Report Card. The district enrolled approximately 1,705 students during the most recent school year reported according to Illinois Report Card. The student body consists of approximately half White (51.3 percent), along with Black (16 percent), Hispanic (25.5 percent), and Asian (2.9 percent) populations according to Illinois Report Card.

There are currently no teachers within United Township High School District 30 who have more than ten absences per year; there are ninety-six teachers earning an average salary of $65,666 before pension contributions—48 percent women and nearly fifty-two percent men according to Illinois Report Card. In terms of spending per student during the last reported year (2020), expenditures were $19,622 per pupil totaling $33 million according to Illinois Report Card.

Chronic truancy remains below statewide averages: seventy-eight chronically truant students were enrolled during the last reporting period—a rate of just under five percent compared with a statewide average closer to ten percent according to Illinois Report Card.
