United Township High School District 30 announces state testing and student activities for April

United Township High School District 30 announced on April 2 several updates regarding upcoming state testing, student activities, and important dates for students and families.

The district outlined key information for students in grades nine through twelve as they prepare for the ACT and PreACT exams next week. Juniors will take the ACT on Wednesday, April 8, with dismissal at 12:30 p.m., while sophomores and freshmen will take the PreACT on Thursday, April 9, and Friday, April 10 respectively. Students are advised to check their school email for MyACT Student Codes and instructions on sending scores to colleges. Only students scheduled to test should attend school on their designated day.

Yearbooks are now available for purchase in the General Office at $60 each starting March 31. The district noted that there are only a limited number of copies available on a first-come, first-served basis. Seniors were reminded that graduation is approaching quickly with cap and gown pickup scheduled for Thursday, April 23 in the Hall of Values.

Additional announcements included registration details for the Seal of Biliteracy Test, sign-ups for the Panther Pant event via social media platforms before Monday, April 6, cheer tryouts set for April 10 with optional clinics earlier in the week, as well as club updates such as Student Council meetings resuming after two weeks. The announcement also recognized sophomore Caleb Flint’s sixth-place finish in wrestling at the freshman-sophomore state championships and freshman Travis Kinkead’s eighth-place result among nearly seven hundred competitors.

United Township High School District 30 represents Rock Island and Henry counties according to Illinois Report Card. The district enrolled approximately 1,705 students during the 2019-2020 school year serving ninth through twelfth grades according to Illinois Report Card. Demographic data shows that it is composed of about fifty-one percent White students, sixteen percent Black students, twenty-five percent Hispanic students, and almost three percent Asian students according to Illinois Report Card.

According to figures from the Illinois State Board of Education as reported by Illinois Report Card, United Township High School District had seventy-eight chronically truant students—defined as missing five percent or more of mandated days without valid excuse—in a recent year; this rate is lower than both statewide averages and some neighboring districts.

The district employs ninety-six teachers earning an average salary of $65,666 before pension contributions; nearly half are women while just over half are men according to Illinois Report Card. No teachers had more than ten absences in a single school year during this period.

Financially, United Township High School District spent $19,622 per student in fiscal year twenty-twenty totaling over thirty-three million dollars overall expenditures according to Illinois Report Card.
