United Township High School District 30 released a series of announcements on March 11 regarding upcoming events, student activities, and important dates for students and families.
The updates are relevant to students, parents, and staff as they include information about graduation procedures, extracurricular opportunities, and school community initiatives. The district serves Rock Island and Henry counties and represents United Township High School according to the Illinois Report Card.
Seniors were reminded that graduation is approaching on May 30, with cap and gown pickup scheduled for April 23 in the Hall of Values. The Ink Pit Production Studio announced its annual shop featuring items designed by ACC Graphic Arts students; orders are due by March 13 with delivery set for April 13. The Choir will host the Harmony Day concert on March 12 at 7 p.m., which will also include Tri-M induction. Admission is free.
Juniors interested in business careers can apply for the Tippie Gateway Summer Program at the University of Iowa from March 2 to April 17. St. Ambrose University representatives will visit during Period 3 for interested students. Sports updates included cheer tryouts scheduled for April 10 with optional clinics earlier that week, and recognition of four wrestlers—Samuel Abotsi, Kameron Buell, Caleb Flint, and Travis Kinkead—who qualified for state finals in Springfield this weekend.
Additional club news included a Bass Fishing Club meeting on March 12 and a donation drive led by the Honey Bees in honor of Women’s History Month. The Student Council will not meet this week due to break. Music in Our Schools Week continues with themed dress days and lunchtime activities such as Just Dance video games; a movie night featuring “Coco” is planned for Wednesday evening.
United Township High School District 30 enrolled 1,705 students in grades nine through twelve during the 2019-2020 school year and is located in East Moline within Rock Island County according to the Illinois Report Card. The district spent $19,622 per student in that year, totaling $33,454,743 as reported by the Illinois Report Card. Demographically, it is composed of approximately 51 percent White students, with Black (16 percent), Hispanic (25.5 percent), and Asian (2.9 percent) populations making up the remainder according to ISBE data.
The district employs a total of ninety-six teachers earning an average salary of $65,666 before pension contributions; nearly half are women according to state education data. In terms of attendance issues, seventy-eight students were classified as chronically truant during the last reported school year—a rate lower than both statewide averages and some other districts as noted by ISBE.
