Students at United Township High School District 30 received several updates on February 16, 2026, regarding upcoming events and opportunities. The school district serves Rock Island and Henry counties and includes United Township High School. According to the Illinois State Board of Education, the district enrolled 1,705 students in the 2019-2020 school year and serves grades nine through twelve in East Moline and Rock Island County. The district spent $19,622 per student in 2020, totaling $33,454,743. Its student body is made up of 51.3 percent White students, 16 percent Black students, 25.5 percent Hispanic students, and 2.9 percent Asian students.

For lunch on February 16th, the cafeteria offered Italian chicken on a whole grain pretzel roll and lasagna with a garlic bread stick as main options.

Students were reminded that Valentine Sucker Grams were available for purchase at $1 each in the cafeteria. Black History key chains were also being sold for $1 at the IJAG table in room 102S.

The announcement encouraged coaches, clubs, and organizations to participate in this year’s Polar Plunge event supporting Special Olympics athletes by either plunging as a team or sponsoring an athlete. Polar Plunge packets could be picked up from the general office with a deadline for team submissions set for February 26th.

Sadies Week was announced to take place with Sadie’s dance scheduled for February 21st under a Winter Wonderland theme. Tickets would be sold from February 17th through February 19th at $13 for singles and $25 for couples.

Students were informed that community service hours must be recorded by February 26 to qualify for wearing the Silver cord at graduation; no exceptions would be made after this date.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 1379 announced openings in its Electrical Apprenticeship Program starting June 15, with applications open between February 2 and March 2. Interested students could contact Mr. Davis, College & Career Advisor.

Seniors interested in attending or already accepted into the University of Missouri (Mizzou) business program were notified about four new opportunities offered by Trulaske College of Business for spring graduates; applications are due by March 1.

Several club activities were also detailed:

– The LGBT+ club planned its final event of the year—Comfortable in School Day—on February 17th.
– Fosters Voice meeting was scheduled for Thursday, February 19th.
– Student Council would not meet during Sadies Week but instead encouraged participation in other events.
– FCA meeting was set for Tuesday morning on February 17th.
– Gamers Club planned to meet Friday in room149N.
– Ice cream sales hosted by Student Council would take place after school on Friday, February 20th.

United Township High School District employs ninety-six teachers who earn an average salary of $65,666 before pension contributions; about half are women and half men. There have been no teachers with more than ten absences during a school year according to state data.

In terms of attendance issues within the district during the previous academic year (2020), there were seventy-eight chronically truant students—a rate lower than both state averages and some other districts such as Gen. George Patton School District (source).
