Over the weekend, Veterans Day events took place at the Illinois State Fair. The event featured several speakers, including Director Jerry Costello of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, who is a former State Representative and served as an 82nd Airborne Soldier; Major General Daniel McDonough, Assistant Adjutant General; Director Terry Prince of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs; and Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Loren Easter, Program Director for military and veteran student services at the University of Illinois – Springfield.
Several military service organizations were present to speak with veterans attending the fair. Junior ROTC units also participated in a day-long competition.
Swanson, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to represent the state’s 71st House District, succeeding Donald L. Moffitt.
