The WIU Women's Center is requesting submissions for a March women's art exhibit.
The Women's Center at Western Illinois University (WIU) is seeking submissions for a new art exhibit, which will focus on the work of local women in honor of National Women's History Month in March.
The exhibit, titled "Women's Art: Women's Vision," will compile work from female artists from the local community, as well as women affiliated with WIU. Students, staff, alumni and community members are encouraged to submit up to three works for consideration.
"The exhibit provides an opportunity to pay tribute to all of the women throughout history who, because of their gender, were denied admission to art academies, were not acknowledged for their talents and were not included in art history books," WIU Women's Center Director Janine Cavicchia said.
This year's exhibit is the 11th of its kind put on by the WIU Women's Center. It will run for the entire month of March.
Submissions are due by 10 a.m. Feb. 29. Full submission guidelines are available online at the WIU home page.
