Greg Dickinson, local artist, will display his pop art at the Rock Island Library.
Local artist Greg Dickinson will display his pop art at the Rock Island Public Library from March 2 to 31.
Dickinson's work follows the pop art tradition of Andy Warhol and other artists who manipulate and reappropriate images from pop culture, such as celebrity portraits, and iconic brands and logos. Dickinson's previous work has demonstrated a fondness for SnackWell's and Oreo cookies.
Dickinson began his career painting murals for Cedar Rapids' Mount Mercy College in the 1980s after graduating from the school with an art degree. He has since exhibited his murals, painting, signs and other work throughout the area.
The exhibit will be on display in the second floor art gallery, Monday through Saturday, during normal library hours.
