East Moline Committee of the Whole to meet, decide on community garden.
The East Moline Committee of the Whole will consider a community garden proposal from the Main Street Business Association (MSBA) Monday at East Moline city offices, immediately following the city council's regular meeting.
The MSBA is seeking a five-year free lease to build a community garden on the vacant city-owned lot on the corner of 15th Avenue and 10th Street. The garden would offer garden beds that are 10 inches wide by three to 36 feet long. Participants would rent a bed for $10 to $25.
The proposal also requests the city's help with moving supplies and providing water free of charge from a nearby hydrant.
If approved by the Committee of the Whole, the proposal would be scheduled for consideration by the city council at the regular meeting March 21.
The committee will also discuss the engineering contract for coating the water tower in Wiman Park and the replacement of a backhoe, along with plan approval for rehabbing the storm pumps and gate well on the Mississippi.
East Moline's city offices are located at 915 16th Ave.
