The Moline Committee of the Whole discussed wastewater treatment plants at its recent meeting.
The City of Moline Committee of the Whole reviewed two resolutions Tuesday at Moline City Hall to authorize $807,000 for improvements to the South Slope Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Additionally, the committee voted on advancing the $747,000 bid from Leander Construction Inc. to repair and improve the plant's waste-activated sludge gravity thickener tank, as well as the roof of the control building.
The committee discussed a $60,000 engineering services contract for the same project with Strand Associates Inc., as well.
Also on the table was a $2.1 million loan from the city to Moline Promenade Investors LLC to help expedite construction of the city's new multimodal transit hub. The 18-month loan would carry an interest rate that is 0.25 percent higher than the city's rate from its bank and would require the developers to pursue historic tax credits, new market tax credits and additional financing to pay the loan back, if necessary.
Finally, the committee considered a resolution that would support consolidating the two emergency dispatch centers serving Moline, East Moline and Milan into a single center.
The meeting began at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
Moline City Hall is located at 619 16th St.
