Rock Island Library recently hosted author Tim Pletkovich.
Author and teacher Tim Pletkovich delivered a free talk Wednesday, March 16 at the Rock Island Main Library, based on his book, which is called 'Civil War Fathers: Sons of the Civil War in World II.'
The book chronicles the reflections of eight World War II veterans about their fathers, who served in the Civil War. Library officials said the book covers nearly a century of observations on social, economic and cultural issues, all passed down from one generation to the next.
Originally an interviewing assignment for Pletkovich's middle school students, the project has developed into a work that Newsday columnist William O'Reilly called "a rare American treasure."
The free talk was held at 2 p.m. in the Community Room.
Rock Island Main Library is located at 401 19th St.
