Children from third- through eighth-grade can look forward to an interactive “STEAM” conference from 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 5 at Western Illinois University’s Riverfront campus in Moline.

Students will be able to select three different sessions during the half-day event in the realms of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. Painting a Fibonacci sequence, writing music, launching rockets or programming robots are among the many possibilities. The event includes free snacks and costs only $5.

Registration is now open; to participate, all youngsters must be registered by Nov. 4. For more information or questions contact QC STEAM Conference Coordinator Ginger Long at ginger.long@risd41.org or 309-912-5067.

Adults, students and youth STEAM providers can sign up to present sessions or volunteer at: http://www.riroe.com/site/blog/2016/08/17/stem-and-steam-opportunities-for-students-families-and-educators/ .

The STEAM fest will offer an in-depth, hands-on experience for Quad Cities-area youngsters and their families. The annual event is sponsored by the Rock Island Regional Office of Education, also in Moline.

“If you have a passion for STEAM this is your chance to show off your interests and knowledge,” the Office of Education stated.

Scholarships for the entry fee are available upon request.
