The Alleman girls' tennis team was in its usual spot this season – undefeated.

The Pioneers started their 2016 campaign with a 4-0 record while taking second place in the Moline Invitational and third in the Schaumburg Saxon Invitational.

That unblemished record comes off last season's sterling 24-0 dual record, the program's first Western Big 6 Conference title and a sectional crown.

Three state qualifiers returned this season: seniors Mary Grevas and Brenna Hogan, and sophomore Lily Schoeck. Returning letter winners are senior Ellie Rouse, junior Noely Baumann and sophomore Lauren Hird.

UNITED TOWNSHIP

First-year head coach Diego Cross has five letter winners back from 2015's team, which was sixth in the Western Big 6 Conference and tied for fourth in the sectionals.

Returning letter winners are seniors Peri Oppenheimer, Emma Lang and Stephanie Garcia, and juniors Shikha Adhikari and Thalia Ruiz.

BOYS' SOCCER

UNITED TOWNSHIP

The Panthers are off to a 2-2-1 record this season, with wins over Rockton Hononegah and Princeton.

Last season, United Township went 10-9-3, including a 3-2 record in the Western Big 6 Conference and a 1-0 loss to Joliet West in the regional.

Returning letter winners are senior midfielder Brett Barr; senior defenders Evan Hillyer, Derek Mottet and David Myers; senior forward Sylvester Ayike; and junior goalkeeper Brandon Moreno.

ROCK ISLAND

Seven starters are back this season for Rocks head coach Darrick Kent.

Rock Island went 9-4-2 last season.

Senior forwards Lucky Boy Wulu (13 goals last season) and Bienvenue Mshonda (11 goals) bring significant scoring punch from last season. Other top returners are senior defender Blake Schneider, junior midfielder Bryce Kent, junior goalkeeper Miguel Gutierrez, junior defender JP Duarte and junior midfielder/forward Gloíre Luwara.
