CALL TO ORDER The Committee of the Whole Meeting was called to order by Board Vice President Kate Schaefer at 6:03 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Coolidge Professional Development Room, 3430 Avenue, Moline, Illinois, 61265.

PUBLIC COMMENT AND PARTICIPATION None.
APPROVAL OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MINUTES The minutes of the Committee of the Whole Meeting of November 14, 2016 were presented for approval as amended. A motion was made by Susan Tucker, seconded by Justin Anderson, unanimously carried, that the minutes be approved as amended and placed on file.
READ 180 UPDATE Kristin Sanders, Assistant Superintendent for Pupil/Personnel Services and Special Services introduced Jeff Adams and Shannon Dudek, Special Education teachers at Moline High School.
Ms. Sanders and Ms. Dudek presented information on Read 180. Read 180 is a comprehensive reading intervention program designed to improve reading fluency and comprehension for students with and without disabilities. Read 180 sets a growth goal for every student. These goals are determined by the program and based on their normative data. Moline High School is currently using Read 180 with only special education students. It was noted that once students are reading at grade level, they no longer need the program.
Ms. Sanders introduced Ms. Dudek. Ms. Dudek further reviewed the program by sharing images of classroom spaces used for independent reading as well as the bulletin boards used to celebrate student success.
Ms. Sanders noted that the Moline High School Special Education Department has seen tremendous growth in student achievement through the use of the Read 180 program. Through cooperation with Title 1, both John Deere and Wilson middle school general education students will be starting Read 180 with 40 middle school students who are in the Response to Intervention Process.
