Port Byron trustees obtain air conditioner repair quotes

The village of Port Byron Board of Trustees met Dec. 5 to obtain air conditioner repair quotes.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the board:

"The government of the Village of Port Byron is comprised of a Mayor and a Board of Trustees. The village board meets on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 6:00 pm in the Village Hall, 120 S Main Street. Meetings are open to the public."

MINUTES BOARD MEETING December 5th, 2016 – 6:00 P.M. VILLAGE OF PORT BYRON IL The first November Board Meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance by Mayor Kevin Klute, at 6:00 p.m. on Monday December 5th, 2016.

Roll Call #1: Present: Trustees Brian Bitler, Gerry Meade, Bruce Peterson, Scott Sidor, Patrick Strobel Absent: Trustee Wesley Wells Mayor Kevin Klute declared a quorum to be present Also Present: Don Loy, Public Works; Graham Lee, Attorney

COMMENTS FROM THE MAYOR

Christmas Walk is this coming Friday, 12/9/16, from 5-7pm Holiday lighting contest is ongoing; judging for businesses is next week, and for residences the following week

Resident Tom Alderson - had question about parking a “pod” storage unit in front of house – was advised it would be okay for a limited time if it does not block traffic Tom Stocking said he is representing Port Byron in the RICO Knights of Columbus Lou DiLauro asked re status of vacant house on corner of Oak and Main Streets, as it appears to be in hazardous condition; he will talk to building inspector D Streeter

a. 2017-18 Tax Levy Ordinance b. Trustee Sidor explained Tax Levy amounts and rationale behind a 2% increase, in line with current inflation Trustee Sidor made a motion to approve a Tax Levy of $292,395 for FY17-18, a 2% increase over current Fiscal Year, seconded by Trustee Meade

Both political party caucuses are tonight – Republican Caucus follows the Board meeting at Village Hall, and the Democratic Caucus is at River Valley Library at 7pm Nice article in newspaper about Ann’s and the cleanup the Rotary did
