Mark Lundahl led a four-winner list in the GOP race for South Moline Township trustee positions in Tuesday’s primary results, with an additional three Republican contenders deemed out of the running for April’s election.
Lundahl of Moline earned 717 votes. Brian Forsberg received 703 votes, Lisa Griffin got 644 votes and Andrea Anderson had 474 votes. All will proceed to have their names listed on the April 4 general election ballot for position of township trustee in South Moline.
Lundahl told the Dispatch-Argus about deep love for the Quad Cities, having relocated back to the area in 2012. He works with his cousin at Meyer Landscape and Design Inc. and said he enjoys setting objectives and goals.
Forsberg is a lifelong resident of South Moline Township with previous trusteeship standing. He is a business analyst for John Deere & Co.
Griffin, a Moline native, has previous experience as a South Moline Township trustee. She teaches computer skills and owns a family business with her husband .
Anderson returned to Rock Island County after living in the western United States and traveling widely. She became active in local politics along with her husband after they resettled in Illinois in the early 2000s. She is an active volunteer.
Three additional Republicans — Sharon Diekman, Vance DeBruine and Wayne Hill Sr. — fell short of the number of votes required to proceed. Diekman, with a background in customer service and business management, had hoped to apply her skills to local leadership to trim spending.
DeBruine told the Dispatch-Argus that he “saw the need for another true conservative trustee,” while Hill stated that he had hoped “to bring a business man’s jaundiced eye to government spending of the confiscated taxpayers dollars” as their respective reasons for running for office, according to the publication.
Only one Democratic contender will join the four Republican winners on April’s list — Robert "Sauce" Saucedo of East Moline.
